Truckee at a Glance
The town of Truckee may not be a household name, but its colorful history, breathtaking
vistas and outdoor adventure appeal makes this northeastern California
town a must-see destination. History can be revisited at Donner
Memorial State Park and Emigrant
Trail Museum, which commemorate the crossing of the Sierra
Nevada Mountains by early settlers. Thanks to the ingenuity of innovative
Truckee residents, year-round playgrounds were created, incorporating the area's
dramatic natural terrain and prevailing weather conditions. Visitors now enjoy
summer activities that include horseback riding with Northstar
Stables, fly fishing with Cyber
Fly and water skiing on nearby Lake
Tahoe. On a winter vacation to Truckee, skiing and snowboarding on the local
hills are popular activities, as well as cross-country skiing and taking a scenic
snowmobile tour. Throughout the year, a mix of local galleries, unique shops and
restaurants await a visit from travelers.
